CPR For the Professional Rescuer
King County Department of Health requires an advanced level of CPR certification for entry to the EMT-B class. Currently, the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and American Health & Safety Institute CPR for the Professional Rescuer are being accepted by KC EMS.
Healthcare Provider CPR
Health Care Provider CPR provides health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and treat life-threatening respiratory and cardiac emergencies. These skills include: Performing two-rescuer CPR and techniques for special rescue situations, using resuscitation masks and bag mask devices for ventilating victims, and proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
This class will teach you how to:
- Recognize and provide care in respiratory and cardiac emergencies in adult, child and infant victims
- Perform two-rescuer CPR and techniques for special rescue situations
- Utilize techniques used in saving a victim of choking
- Use resuscitation masks and bag-valve-masks for ventilating victims
- Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
