Basic & Intermediate Helicopter
Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 118.04(3)(h) requires that all SAR personnel possess demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in helicopter operations. In addition, the emergency management division must approve the specific curriculum. By agreement of King County Sheriff's Office, and the unit leaders of King County Search and Rescue Association, an initial course must be taken within one year of joining a member unit, and before an individual may participate in a mission outside of King County.
For Field Members, this training must be refreshed every two years. Member Units may enforce higher standards within their own organization.
Please Note: Both helicopter classes scheduled for the 2008 Spring SAR Academy have been filled to capacity. Another helicopter class will be scheduled for a different date and location than the academy. If you need a helicopter class, please send in a registration form indicating that you would like to be placed on the waiting list for this yet-to-be-scheduled class.
