Requirements

There are a set of minimum requirements every member of KCSARA must adhere to in order to participate in mission activities.

Personal Training Records

Your personal training records are available here. Please periodically review this information and help us keep your records up-to-date.

Unit Training

Each of the member units within KCSARA establishes and holds their own training. Some of this unit training satisfies the minimum training required by KCSARA.

KCSARA Academy

Once or twice a year, KCSARA holds an academy which offers entry level classes and refreshers for the required courses, in addition to some educational electives.

Washington State SAR Conference

Once a year the Washington State Search and Rescue Conference is held. Hosted by different Washington counties, the conference rotates to a different county each year.

Mission Time

Some training requirements can be satisfied though participation in missions.

Third-party Courses

Some third-parties conduct training that satisfies the minimum training required by KCSARA.

Washington State SAR Conference

All of the courses required for emergency workers and SAR volunteers are offered at the annual Washington State Search and Rescue Conference, and KCSARA accepts any course taught at the SAR Conference at face value.

Locations and times

The 2009 Washington State Search and Rescue Conference will be hosted by Lewis County and held May 11th through the 17th, 2009 at Dragon’s Sphere Park which is a primitive 300 acre site that is surrounded by the Cowlitz River, forest lands and stunning mountain views.

Class Credit

Please make sure when you take a course at the conference that you sign in with the instructor, and that you leave with written proof that you completed the class. Then, when you return after the conference, fax or mail a copy of the proof to the address/fax number provided below.

Registration Reimbursement

KCSARA will reimburse any member half the cost of an early registration. The member will need to provide KCSARA with proof of payment (copy of a canceled check, credit card statement, etc.) Send your proof of payment, along with your SAR ID number and personal mailing address, to the address provided below. The KCSARA Treasurer will send you a check as your reimbursement.
